These six courses comprise the core pedagogy of the MCIT program. They are designed to give us a strong understanding of programming, logical thinking, and computer systems. These courses prepare us to take masters-level computer science courses.
I believe the combination of the four CIS courses below will give me a good framework and foundation to build upon in industry. My goal is to understand human technology interactions and see how we can improve our relationship with technology.
Programming and Problem Solving – This course ingrained the necessity for collaboration, communication, and trust in teams. Completing solely small-team (up to 4) projects for our final grade, we competed against other students in the class in simulations. This course
Independent Study Project – This project was my first big personal project where I learned designing an app, full stack development, and how to build a REST API. Details can be found by following the link in the “Summer 2020” section.
Artificial Intelligence – In this class I hope to dive into the world of Artificial Intelligence. In this course we program a R2D2 robot to interact with the world around it.
Computer Vision – Fostered by my interested in AR/VR, I want to learn how computers perceive the world around them.
While I am transitioning industries, the lessons and experiences I’ve gained through this degree have helped shape me into who I am today. These courses have helped me grow into an inclusive leader that tries to take in many perspectives when decision making.
